SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, which is employed to verify whether an e-mail message is sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will stop the counterfeiting of emails generated with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send email messages from mailboxes under the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through verifies if it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address to make it appear as if you're sending spam. This technique is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our exceptional Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to use it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down list and then enter the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be approved to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This solution provides you with the best degree of protection, but it is not applicable when only your site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain name are handled in a different place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you will be able to use this service easily for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a very intuitive interface, so you won't have to be tech-savvy to secure your e-mail addresses. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be permitted to send out e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you have picked. As an extra option, we will also allow you to limit the outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even better by permitting messages to be sent only when the domain name involved has our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain have to be managed here and not by some other supplier. Thus you'll get even superior control and there won't be any chance for any person to counterfeit your e-mails for harmful objectives.
